The core of SISSEL EDELBO is the sari. The brand wishes to pay tribute to the saris by reusing secondhand saris to create their collections. They believe every sari tells a story of Indian heritage and not least the women, who wear them for both everyday and celebrations. Through upcycling of vintage saris, they want to bring new life to traditional dressing, and make sure that The Story Continues. They source them from all over India and are inspired by new prints and color combinations

All SISSEL EDELBO pieces are carefully made using discarded Sari's handpicked by the founders. Each piece is carefully handcrafted by master seamstresses that create with the upmost quality and attention to detail, giving the brands styles that recognizable overall curated look, as well as each style being unique

SISSEL EDELBO buys used saris through agents, who travel from town to town, village to village and from house to house, to buy the used saris, directly from women wardrobes. The old saris are exchanged for money or swapped for new household supplies for the women. The brand contributes to women transforming their used clothes to something that brings them value

SISSEL EDELBO works in a circular fashion by using something existing to create a new product of higher value and meaning. They redesign and reuse Indian saris. In that way, they produce more eco-friendly than conventional clothing production, since they do not use resources producing new raw materials. With the leftover waste created from upcycling, they create patchwork dresses out of the larger scraps and design styles like Christmas ornaments, scrunchies, hairbands, belts and other accessories with the tiny scraps, aiming towards a zero waste model
