Since 2015 Adidas has a long-term commitment with the environmental organization Parley for the Oceans with the goal to turn marine pollution into sportswear. This expansion has in turn enabled adidas to accelerate production and expand the number of products made using our upcycled materials. Beyond apparel like shirts, socks and other performance wear, adidas produced 1 million pairs of shoes with Parley Ocean Plastic® in 2017, then 5 million in 2018, 11 million in 2019. Parley worked to develop the world’s first supply chain for upcycled marine waste and created Ocean Plastic® as a powerful symbol of change. Initially sourced from islands in the Maldives, they have now expanded the collection network to the Dominican Republic and Sri Lanka too, creating a steady demand for plastic waste that would otherwise end up in the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean Sea

Description: Reversible crewneck vest, shorter in front and longer in back. This garment can be worn on different outfits with skirts or trousers, over or under the trench-coat. The neckline is finished with grosgrain and small buttons to attach the hood in waterproof organic cotton. One side is all in natural-colored yarn-dyed wool and hemp, while the reverse is finished with black polyester quilted with light wadding. This vest is perfect under a coat, or over a shirt instead of a jacket, almost a fun accessory for winter and mid-seasons.

Hemp comes from the Cannabis sativa plant, yes the same plant you are thinking of. Cannabis plants require low water and resources, and have been used to make clothing textiles for centuries. 

Hemp is a high-yielding crop, meaning it produces lots of product on a small amount of land. It doesn’t require any chemical pesticides, so it doesn't harm its environment. In fact, it actually helps replenish soil nutrients, regenerating soil, and removing it of toxins.
On top of that, hemp essentially absorbs more CO2 from the atmosphere than forests, which is why industrial hemp farms are what's called a “carbon sink”.
